LENT 2010
Third Sunday of Lent 7
March

Domingas
To bring about the
kingdom of God,we must be transformed
within ourselves and our community.
This week’s story takes us to East Timor where Domingas is
being supported in a Caritas-funded Family and Community
Violence Prevention Program.
Domingas, like many women in her community was the victim of violence and abuse.
The program has provided her with ongoing counselling and a small
grant to enable her to build a business and give her economic independence.
Your donation to Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion helps to support
women survivors of violence and to work for just relationships.

"FAMILY FAITH
FEASTS".
Families are invited to
take part in Family Faith Feasts.
These are opportunities for parents to get together with
other parents and families at St Denis Parish House.
There will be two chances during Lent this year.
Thursday 4th March and Thursday 18th March.
Ring Andrea 0412 332 252 or Joanne 9349 4964 for further details.
Each family is asked to bring a plate of finger food to share.
Gatherings start at 6pm and finish by 8pm.
It is very helpful for us to know how many children
will be coming and what ages they are as,
while parents discuss in groups, the children
work through activities at their own level.
Hope to see you there.
If you are not involved in a family you are still welcome.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S
DAY
SUNDAY 7/3/10
Since 1911 Internal
Women’s Day has been celebrated as the global day connecting all
women around the world and inspiring them to achieve their full potential. This
day is an opportunity to reflect on the dignity and role of all women; in the
family, society and the Church.
The letter of Pope John Paul II to women reminds us that Jesus Christ
provided a wonderful example of treating women.
When it comes to setting women free from every kind of exploitation and
domination, the Gospel contains an ever relevant message which goes back to the
attitude of Jesus Christ himself. Transcending the established norms of his own
culture Jesus treated women with openness, respect, acceptance and tenderness.
In this way he honoured
the dignity which women have always possessed according to God’s plan and in his
love.
We pray that we, the church, ensure that women are encouraged to flourish within
the
Catholic Church in Australia and that all women are appreciated for the
contribution
they make to the fullness of the Church.
